Everything was foggy, all I saw was blur.

On a snowflake like a toy,
To make you smile and shine like gold
And to warm you when you’re cold.

As the clouds pass by
One by one every day
As all birds fly
And go on their way
As the land is dry
And the sky turns gray
All the poppies try
Not to fade away…

I sit at my desk, with a candle lit
Since you joined the navy, I can’t rest a bit.
It is close to midnight, and I miss you so
I wish you’d come back and then never go.

Our garden’s blooming, with the roses red,
Like the ones you gave me… remember? When we met…
Your mom caught a cold, but she said “Don’t worry
My son, focus there, and return in glory!”

Now I write again, this is my fifth letter
Do you know a way how to make this better?
Darling there’s no way for me to ease this pain
Since you joined the navy, it all seems in vain.

I stare at your picture, every single day
You’re close in my heart, but so far away…
Did your captain say when you can come home?
Darling you must ask, I feel so alone!

But what’s wrong with me, this is the fifth letter
That I write to you, and I don’t feel better…
All I do is write and then pile them in a box
The war is long over, but your ship hit rocks…

Darling how I miss you, since you joined the navy,
And you’ll never know that we have a baby…

Your skin glows like a fresh cherry,
Blossoms tasty as the rose in the purest hope of spring.
My heart follows your crystal clear voice
And leaps like a young colt at the whisper of your name.
The evening floats in on a great butterfly wing.
I am comforted by your hat that I carry into the twilight of songbeams.
I hold next to my lips.
I am filled with hope that I may dry your tears of sorrow.
As my eyes fall from my old scarf, it reminds me of your love.
In the quiet, I listen for the last note of the day.
My heated arms leap to yours.
I wait in the moonlight for our secret sign
So that we may run as one, arms to arms,
In search of the magnificent, pure and mystical love.

I woke up this morning
Reaching for a hug.
As the rain was pouring,
I thought I saw a bug.

So I stared a little better
Out the window in the rain.
But it was just a feather…
And I felt a weird pain.

The alarm was set to 8
But it was barely 7.
I tried to put my thoughts all straight
And picture me in heaven.

I tried to smile and understand
Why all the things have changed,
I tried to stop and not expand
The pain that was so strange.

Can I be ready for tomorrow
If I regret today?
I locked away my sorrow,
As faith was coming, on the way…

I fully opened all my windows
And received the chilly rain.
I could swear I saw some halos
Or maybe I was just insane…

Some people walk the straight and narrow,
Some walk the rocky road.
Some get the silver spoon and some get the heavy load.

Well I get a little tired walkin’ down the street
People on my side – everyone I meet.
